My name is Rodney Michael Jarvis. I was born in England in 1946. I am looking for James Edward Foster or Edward James Foster. I don't know the sequence of his name. He was a corporal in the US Army Air force stationed in or around the small City of Norwich in Eastern England. It was the main area for the American 8th Army Air force in Britain. He met my mother Joyce Evelyn Jarvis at a dance, possibly at a place called the "The Sparrow Nest" in Lowestoft, Suffolk, a small coastal town about 15 miles from Norwich. She was stationed there as a ATS driver. This would be in the latter half of 1944 up to May 1945. He may have visited my mother's house as her younger sisters remember uncle "Jimmy" or "Eddie" and his Hershey bars. My mother's sister’s names were Yvonne, Heather and Sybil. He may have had a unit commander or a friend named Steven (Steve) Conway. He could have been air or ground crew at Rack heath air base where B24 liberators were flown, but this is informed speculation only, but worth mentioning. I have seen one small photograph of this man with my mother taken near or at Norwich Cathedral in the winter time, as they had their coats on. He looked between 18 and 22, medium height and thin build. I was told his hair was mousy brown and his eyebrows are said to have met in the centre. When my mother told him she was pregnant, he said he would see his commanding officer. But the story is, the war in Europe having just ended, he was like many others sent to the Pacific against the Japanese. But this could be of course something my mother was just told, as she did go to see his commanding officer by herself. However all this being what it may, as his son it is a long time overdue that I made an effort to find him, simply to say hello to my Dad. I have had the roll of honour checked and I was told he is not there. So could anyone who knows anything at all, please contact me on my e-mail or write to me. E-mail: almi_uk@yahoo.co.uk
